Meet Sharon Ford

"My goal as an artist is to communicate the beauty and the uniqueness of the subject matter depicted in my art work. It is a visual communication to you.  It is my intent through color, line, brush strokes and composition to arouse an emotion in the viewer."

Art has played an important and integral part of Sharon's life. As a child growing up in Portland Oregon, she found it was something she excelled in and enjoyed doing. Her talent was encouraged by her parents and teachers.
In college at Portland State University, she majored in education and minored in fine art and economics. Sharon experimented with oil painting on her own. Later, she took classes at the University.

After graduating, Sharon moved to Sacramento California with her husband, Paul. There she studied print making, sculpture and drawing. Much of her art techniques were self-taught. She explored the use of pastels and watercolors depicting landscapes throughout her travels in Mexico and Europe.

Sharon started on a career path in1980 as a financial advisor. This took her far away from the world of art to the world of finance in Los Angeles. While raising her family in L A and pursuing her career, she never lost sight of her passion for painting and drawing. A sketch book was a constant companion.

In 1990, she moved to the San Diego area with her husband and two sons. The garage became her studio. When her sons were grown, she pursued her art with vigor. Sharon took life drawing and oil painting classes at Mesa College in the evening. She continues to take art classes and workshops from time to time to improve her skills and spark her creativity.

Sharon's art work is ever changing and evolving. The spontaneous creative process is inherent in her work. She creates a new series of paintings every four to six months. Visit this site often to see new works of art by Sharon Ford.
